Circle of Confusion


I was born alone
I have been raised as one of them
The normal people
But I wanted to be different

Different from anyone else
I don't want to belong there
I want to be special
I want to be different

I have been accepted everywhere
But I will refuse
I don't belong there
I belong here

Deep within myself
Within the other me
To hide from those who don't accept me
But who will accept the other me

I am me and I am me
Two sons born in one soul
Never alone, always together
Sharing everything that happens

But as time passes
Things start to change
Two becomes one, no turning back
I will die alone, as I was born

This get's into the duality of society. We both want to be part of the group and unique individuals, and modern society has branded us with both lables. It's said that we don't want to do things so much as want to be able to do them. Whereas we used to have the ability to be radically differant from everyone else if we accepted the consequences the advance of tolerance decreases the consequences and mean that more people are differant. As everyone pushes away from the norm, it follows them making it that much harder to be truely unique.
